In 2025, President Trump directed the U.S. Department of the Treasury to stop producing pennies as part of a broader effort to reduce unnecessary government spending.
Rolled Pennies are No Longer Available
Since the U.S. Treasury has officially ended the production of the penny, banks – including KS StateBank – can no longer order pennies from the Federal Reserve. Because of this, we are not able to provide rolled pennies. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

What should I do with my pennies?
While there are currently plenty of pennies out there, circulation is slowing down. Pennies are still legal tender, so check around your home, car or coin jars and help ease the slowdown by using them to make purchases when possible, deposit them at the bank, or cash them in at a coin kiosk or bank.
What happens next?
You will start seeing banks, retailers, and businesses round cash transactions to the nearest five cents and signage encouraging you to make electronic payments.
We’re watching for updates from the Federal Reserve and Treasury. If additional guidance becomes available we will share that with you here as well as provide communication at our branches.
